BACKPACKS - Each student should have a backpack. They will keep this backpack with them as they switch classes so they can make sure all important papers and homework gets home. Their class textbooks will be kept in their locker and will be taken home as needed. They will keep their five color-specified folders in a binder in their backpack so that they will be readily available in each class. They will also keep their zipper pouch in here to store some pencils and small supplies that they need daily. The rest of their pencils and such will be kept in their locker.
FOLDERS - Please label their folders with their name and subject before school starts.
The assigned colors are as follows …
Yellow - Social Studies
Orange - Math Lab
Purple - Reading
Red - Language Arts
Blue - Science
Green-Math
BEHAVIOR - 4th grade uses a color coded card system. Students who receive more than 5 yellow cards, 1 of any other color card, or an office referral will be unable to attend the behavior reward celebration at the end of each nine weeks. Attendance at the behavior reward celebration is also at the teachers' discretion. (Walking is used as a correction so that students have time to think about their behavior while still continuing to get their physical movement.)
SEVERE DISCIPLINE PROBLEMS will automatically be sent to the office.
CLASS DOJO - An online program that is used for positive and negative behavior. Parents are encouraged to sign up to be able to track their child’s behavior points.
ABSENCES - If your child is absent we will have their homework collected throughout the day. If you would like to pick it up that day it will be available after 3:00 by calling the office and letting them know or it will be available the next morning in the student's homeroom class.
ACCELERATED READER/AR - Each child must have 12 points and a 75% comprehension average for the first 9 weeks in order to attend the AR party. They will not have as much reading time during the school day as they might have had during the past. Please encourage them to read at home. They can also take AR tests at home Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. if you have a computer and an internet connection. The AR site can be reached using our 4th-grade website. The following 9 weeks goals will be set at a later time.
WENGAGE - If you have not signed up to see your child’s online gradebook please contact the office to do so. You can see your child's grades along with their lunch account.
LOCKERS - Each student will have a locker to use. They should not place anything valuable in them. They are not allowed to have locks on their lockers. They are allowed to go to their lockers 3 times during the day. First thing in the morning, at lunch, and at the end of the day.
BOX TOPS - Our school collects box tops. They can be turned into their homeroom teacher.
